Artwork:
Gond folklore art is full of traditional stories like this set of four paintings. The scene one is about two best friend elephant and fox. At the time of drought, fox was thirsty and looks for water at distance, while standing on the back of elephant, but in vain. The second painting depicts the scene when elephant offered the fox to fetch water (shown as fish) from its stomach. Elephant cautioned fox not to look up into its stomach and touch its vital organs, but fox beside drinking the water also disturbs the vital organ of the elephant which causes elephant’s death and fox gets trapped inside. The lord Shiva and Parvati painted on let side helps the fox get out from the body of the dead elephant. The third painting shows the Lord Shiva (hidden on the tree) and Parvati as elderly women giving a task to fox for breaching the trust of its friend elephant. In the fourth painting the fox is shown wandering from place to place in the village given a task and punishment and in turn goes through a lot of suffering. This set of four original paintings is available in frame with mounting border and non-reflective museum quality glass along with authenticity certificate.
